Palmetto Pullover

It should come as no surprise that one of my favorite pattern designers for girls is Lil Luxe Collection. Other than needing to add length, I find her patterns to fit my daughter especially well. I also find her patterns to be modern and dare I say a little on the trendy side, which suits my 8 year old quite well. I’ve slowed down on testing a lot in the last year or so, but there are still a few designers who I really enjoy testing for and Lil Luxe Collection is one of those designers. I always have a good experience and even the first version during pattern testing has always been wearable. Jessica had a recent call for a few new patterns she’s releasing and when I saw the Palmetto Pullover, I knew that it would be a hit in my daughter’s wardrobe. I definitely was not mistaken!

The Palmetto Pullover is a cozy pullover with a bit of a looser fit overall. I love the cuffed sleeve with the tabs and the cowl neck with the matching tab. There is also an option for a bow tie neck that I did in my first version during testing and I really do love that option. Make sure to check out the pattern on the website to see both versions. You can choose between 3/4 length sleeves or full length sleeves, so this pattern could easily be used with a lighter weight fabric for springtime or a summer in a cooler climate.

I really love the fit of this pattern and I think a knit with a bit more drape really compliments the cuffed sleeves and neck. I used a rayon french terry from Sincerely Rylee Fabrics. If you are unfamiliar with her french terry’s, you are seriously missing out. They are so amazingly soft and the added rayon creates a nice drape for a medium weight fabric. My daughter really loves this print and I ended up not loving it as much as I thought, so I didn’t mind using this $16 a yard fabric on something for her. I know this pullover will get so much wear in the next couple years. If you are interested in purchasing from Sincerely Rylee, she posts new items on her website on Friday nights and things go super quick, like within minutes. You can get notifications of what will be coming on Friday nights on the Facebook group. Fair warning, you’ll want to buy all the fabric, so proceed with caution.

My daughter is tall and slender, so I always need to extend patterns to fit her properly. Her chest measurement is 23.5″ which puts her in a size 6. However, she is 54″ tall, which  would be between a size 8 and 10 for length. I went off the finished measurements to see how much I needed to add in the body and the sleeve. I added 3″ in the body and 2.25″ in the sleeve. I didn’t adjust the cuffs or hem band at all. The fit is spot on. I think I could have gotten away with adding as much as an extra inch to the sleeve in order to get more longevity out of the pattern, but really the sleeve is perfect the way it is. Adding the extra length didn’t cause any complications in any way on this pattern. It was a super straight forward adjustment.

Overall, my daughter and I both love this pattern. It’s a super easy sew (no hemming!!) and creates a garment that’ll be in constant rotation. The Palmetto Pullover just released late last night and will be 30% off for a short period of time, so get it now while it’s on sale! Lil Luxe Collection also released 2 other patterns last night, the Camela Top & Jacket and the Sonora Dress which will be a summer favorite I’m sure of it.

I love it. This was one I really wanted to test had the timing been better for me. I need to check out that fabric too. Sounds like something I’m looking for.

Thank you Sherri! The pattern is such a great day to day pattern. Definitely check out Sincerely Rylee Fabric shop. She always has so many great things. She posts her sales at 8pm EST though, which is always while I’m putting my kids to bed. Otherwise, I would have a closet full of her fabrics!
