Father's Day Printable

Father’s Day is fast approaching. I’m part of the Women’s Ministry board at my church and part of what I do is create the labels for a little package of cookies we give to the men of our church on Father’s Day. I’m pretty happy with how this year’s label turned out, so I thought I would share it with you all. I don’t think I have any local men, other than my husband, reading this blog, so the surprise should still stand. I wanted to create something simple and masculine. I think I achieved this. You have two different pdf documents you can download. One is an enlarged image to print on a sheet of letter size paper. The other is for Avery 5294 round 2.5″ labels. Simply click on one of the images below to pull up the corresponding pdf file.

Proverbs 31 Woman

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusmailFacebooktwittergoogle_plusmail

Being a mother is hard. Let’s be honest, there are moments and days I feel like a complete failure as a mother. I have had times I’ve been out and about with the kids and someone comments how well behaved they are. I give myself a little pat on the back and feel great. Then, there are moments like the time I was in a government office filling out paperwork with nobody else there and someone from the back came out to tell me to control my kids. There are times my kids ask me for something and I lovingly reply and other times I get frustrated with their questions. There are nights they get a bath, a good toothbrushing, several stories, prayed over and snuggles and other nights they go to sleep in their clothes they’ve been wearing all day, no bath, no toothbrushing and a very quick goodnight. Being a mother is hard. Being a mother when you have no family close by and your husband has a very demanding job is especially hard.

I don’t know about you, but when I read Proverbs 31, I get motivated and discouraged at the same time. This woman described is like the perfect woman! The perfect wife, the perfect mother. She stays up all night, “Her lamp does not go out at night.” Proverbs 31:18. She’s wise and kind, “She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Proverbs 31:26. She’s not lazy, “She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.” Proverbs 31:27. She’s strong, “She girds herself with strength and makes her arms strong.” Proverbs 31:17. Sometimes I read all this and feel like a failure. But, then I read Proverbs 31:30, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” See how the description of a godly woman ends. “A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” I don’t think it’s a coincidence this is at the end of the description. The thing is, we are not called to be the Proverbs 31 woman alone. And, nowhere else in the description of this godly woman does it say she should be praised. It’s only stated after, “A woman who fears the Lord.” We are not called to be perfect, to have it all together. We are simply called to love God and put our trust in Him.

So, the next time you are having one of those days as a mom where you want to pull your hair out, turn to Him. He is there to help us, to comfort us and give us hope. And, remember, by doing so, you will be praised. I’ve included a free printable of this verse for you. Simply click on the picture and it will take you to the free pdf to download. Happy Mother’s Day!

Much Love,

Martha Martha

 Free 8×10 Martha Martha PDF

I was creating some memory verse cards earlier this week for an upcoming women’s retreat for my church. All the verses were wonderful, but this verse is so extremely important for me to remember at this particular stage in my life. I am a mommy to 3 very young children, a dog, a cat and a husband who when home is very helpful, but unfortunately due to his career, he often is not able to assist in things around the house. Sometimes, I find myself getting so caught up in “doing” I forget to relish the moments with my family and my time with the Lord. I know I’m not alone in this. We live in a fast paced world where “busy” is almost seen as something to take pride in. But, it is so important for us to stop and fully immerse ourselves in the present moment. Instead of putting away that pile of dishes, maybe we should sit and color with our children or sit down and ask questions about how our husband’s day at work went. This is even more important in our time with the Lord. I’ve been making a very conscious effort to get up earlier this year to have time alone with Jesus. As a woman, I may pride myself in my multitask abilities, but my time with the Lord alone is completely different than if I had 3 kids climbing on me. I’ve felt much more connected to God in the past couple months because of this time in the morning. Praying amongst the chaos is okay and even important, but we can’t forget to find a time everyday to give God our undivided attention. Because I need this scripture in my life so much right now, I’m going to go ahead and print out 2 copies of this verse and place them on my bathroom mirror and refrigerator as a constant reminder to slow down and listen to God. Click the image above to download the free pdf for yourself.

I’m considering offering memory verse cards in my etsy shop. Perhaps, different designs for different themes. Is this something you would be interested in purchasing? Let me know in the comments below.

Much Love!
